Fashion vs Function
basa basi dulu :...
Sepulang dari diskusi kecil antara aku dgn sekelompok programmer Point Of Sales yang sama kalangkabut akan launching Senayan City yang issue-nya sedang dalam percepatan Grand Opening plaza tersebut, yakni rencananya Agustus/September jadi bulan depan (Juli 2006).
Btw, terlepas dari persoalan diatas, dan tanpa bermaxud mengomentari perkembangan plaza tersebut, kita malah jadi sedikit "gaduh" soal Fashion dan Function.
Fashion, istilah untuk menyebutkan elemen antarmuka (interface), yg dianggap menarik perhatian pengunjung.
Function, adalah perkara inti dari desain, yg memuat: kegunaan (usable), manfaat (value add), dan keuntungan (profitable) plus kemudahan transfer (portability).
dan? ya! seperti sudah bisa ditebak diawal, diskusi semacam ini bisa jadi debat yg tak berkesudahan. Karena masing-masing peserta/developer ngotot, bersikukuh dengan teorinya, dan diakui sebagai inovator, trendsetter, accurator, best analist (muluk!!)
ditambah, antara fashion dan function terjadi tumpang-tindih area, artinya kadang fashion merupakan function, dan sebaliknya. pusing!?! `:=|
Kabar baiknya, olok-olok sesama profesi programmer/tekhnisi/desainer ini, lebih terasa sebagai "pembuka cakrawala" dibandingkan diskusi serupa ketika yg dihadapi adalah calon pembeli. --telinga boleh panas, tapi kulkas harus dingin-- wakakaka :)!
hingga sore hari, tidak ada kata bulat, mufakat, atau kompromi. Namun rasanya kita sepakat bahwa kedua unsur tersebut sama penting, satu hal menyangkut harga diri, satu hal lainnya adalah jati diri. hmmmm?
okey, oleh-oleh dari "keributan" tersebut, relevansi untuk blog, kerana aku adalah salah satu yg lebih menitikberatkan "fashion" daripada "function", aku jadi kepikiran: "apakah totally blog-site ku masih diambang wajar?" atau dalam bahasa (sok)-tekhnisnya : "apakah beban appearance cukup imbang dengan performance?"
